ALUMNI LEGACY AWARDS PROGRAM
The Texas A&M School of Law Alumni Board is pleased to open nominations for the 2025 Alumni Legacy Awards. This program was created in 2021 to recognize outstanding law school alumni for their individual achievements, contributions to their professions, service to their communities, and loyalty to the law school.
The awards will be presented on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Texas A&M School of Law Alumni Legacy Awards Reception. The event will be held at the Sheraton Fort Worth Downtown. Sponsorship and ticket information are forthcoming.
All graduates of the law school since inception are eligible* for nomination. This includes both the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law era and the Texas A&M University School of Law era. Nominations are now being accepted for the six awards; anyone may submit a nomination. An individual may be nominated for multiple awards, but such an individual may only receive one award per year.

- Judge Joe Spurlock II ’60 Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award
In 2020, the beloved law school professor and one of the founders of the original law school passed away. This award was created to honor him and his legacy. In recognition of exceptional, continued achievement and noteworthy contributions to the legal profession and Texas A&M University School of Law by an alumnus/a of the law school. (JD and LLM graduates are eligible.) - Rising Star Award
In recognition of exceptional professional achievements of an alumnus/a who graduated from the law school within the past 10 years. (JD and LLM graduates are eligible.) - Private Practice Achievement Award
In recognition of exceptional professional achievement and legal excellence in private practice by an alumnus/a of the law school. (JD and LLM graduates are eligible.) - Public/Non-Profit Sector Achievement Award
In recognition of exceptional professional achievement and legal excellence in public service/the non-profit sector by an alumnus/a of the law school. (JD and LLM graduates are eligible.) - Community Impact Award
In recognition of significant commitment of an alumnus/a of the law school to others, in fostering a more inclusive community through their individual contributions. (JD, LLM, MJUR and MLS graduates are eligible.) - Outstanding Legal Masters Alumni Award
In recognition of an alumnus(a) of the law school's legal masters programs for outstanding contributions or achievements in their profession. (MJUR and MLS graduates are eligible.)

*Eligibility Exceptions:
- Anyone can submit a nomination; however, self-nominations will not be accepted.
- Texas A&M School of Law Alumni Board members are not eligible to receive an award during their active term. However, ex-officio members are eligible.
- Texas A&M University School of Law employees are not eligible to receive an award while employed by the law school.
- Previous winners of the Texas Wesleyan School of Law Distinguished Alumnus Award are not eligible to win the Judge Joe Spurlock II '60 Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award as they have already been honored by the law school with the highest alumni award.
- Once an alumnus(a) wins a specific award, they cannot win that same award again. However, they are eligible to win other awards if they meet the criteria for the specific award.
- Recipients must be able to attend the Alumni Legacy Awards Reception to receive their award. If they cannot attend, they will completely forfeit the award and must be nominated again in future years to be reconsidered for selection.
The Alumni Legacy Awards Selection Committee reserves the right to realign the nominations should a nominee fit another category other than the one that he or she was nominated for.
To submit a nomination, please fill out the form in its entirety. The awards selection committee is interested in learning as much as possible about your nominee. The deadline to submit nominations is 5:00 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Any submissions received after that time will not be accepted.
