Terry Bentley Hill, Class of 2008, is a criminal defense attorney in Dallas. She has built a robust defense practice representing clients who have mental health issues or substance use disorders that result in criminal charges. Her advocacy often results in dismissals for her clients. This niche has earned her recognition nationwide as a lawyer who operates beyond traditional legal confines.

Terry is equally passionate about attorney wellness. She is the immediate past chair of the Texas Lawyers Assistance Program for the State Bar of Texas. Earning recognition for her efforts, Terry was awarded the 2021 Terry Lee Grantham Memorial Award by the Texas Bar Foundation and in 2011 a Presidential Citation from the State Bar of Texas. She has been recognized both locally and nationally for her mental health advocacy.

Terry’s commitment is deeply personal, stemming from her own experiences dealing with the tragic losses of her former husband and daughter to suicide. As a result, she spearheaded the #stopmindingyourownbusiness campaign, emphasizing the significance of reaching out to individuals who are struggling.

Terry is a prolific speaker and writer who has made hundreds of presentations across the country. She is also active in the community devoting her time to causes important to her.

Her remarkable journey, marked by resilience and purpose serves as a source of inspiration for many.
