Students Help Clean Up the Trinity River

Trash-bash1On Saturday, September 17th, 2022, several members from Texas A&M Law’s ENRG (Energy and Natural Resources Group) participated in the Trinity River Trash Bash; an annual event put on by the Tarrant Regional Water District. Over the past 30 years, the District has organized community cleanups of local waterways. Every year the local Fort Worth community participates in cleaning up the Trinity River. For our law students this year, the Trash Bash was a great opportunity to spend time getting to know one another, spend time outside, and contribute to beautifying and protecting the local environment.

Some students took to the river on kayaks to remove trash from the river and banks, while others stuck to dry land to remove trash from the grassy areas surrounding the river. With recent flooding occurring throughout the DFW area, the Trinity River became full of trash and debris from throughout the city. After a long morning picking up trash, students moved to the afterparty, where they enjoyed food, prizes, games, and many snow cones. Overall, it was an enjoyable day contributing to the local community and getting to know other students interested in environmental, energy, water, animal, and natural resource law.
