EENRSLP STUDENTS SET OUT TO GAIN VALUABLE EXPERIENCE IN SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

Students in the Energy, Environmental, and Natural Resources Systems Law Program at Texas A&M University School of Law have a busy summer ahead of them, with many securing summer internships with major players in the field. The varied experiences and placements facing these students will undoubtedly enrich the Law School and the classroom experience when they return for the fall semester.


Sarah_AngellRising 2L Sarah Angell is looking forward to spending her summer working as a Mickey Leland Intern at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in the Office of Legal Services. Angell said, “I am most looking forward to learning about the vital work being done at the agency, as well as learning more about the regulatory and administrative rulemaking process.” On top of the sturdy foundation for research and writing skills that she built during her 1L year, Angell hopes to use this summer internship to build on her preexisting skills and gleam new ones.

 

 


Levi_BakerRising 3L Levi Baker is spending his summer working as a summer associate for Sprouse Schrader Smith PLLC in Amarillo, Texas. During his time at the firm, Baker will be assisting in a variety of projects and topics, including agriculture and agribusiness, land use, wealth planning, and litigation. About the placement, Baker said, “I am excited to gain practical experience as I apply my education and background to meet different clients’ needs.”

 

 

 


Ryan_BlockRyan Block, a rising 3L, will spend his summer as an intern at the Federal Regulatory Commission, Office of the General Counsel in the Energy Markets Division, in Washington, D.C. When asked about the position, Block responded, “I am excited to continue learning about the laws and regulations that impact our nation’s electric utilities, power markets, and grid infrastructure.”

 

 

 


ChristynCavazos_ResizedChristyn Cavazos is a rising 3L who will spend her summer as an intern with the Environmental Defense Fund. When asked about the position, Cavazos remarked, “I had just taken environmental law with Professor Felix Mormann, and we had read so many cases with EDF as a party. I thought it would be such an incredible opportunity to work for the same organization that I was reading about in class.” In her position, Cavazos will work in the air pollution division in EDF’s Washington, D.C. office.

 

 

 


Max-HayashiRising 3L Max Hayashi is interning with Texas Parks and Wildlife as part of the Professor Corwin W. Johnson Memorial Internship program. This program places Texas law students passionate about environmental law in summer internships with Texas agencies. Hayashi asserted that he is “most excited about experiencing environmental and natural resources law from the government perspective.”
