Lauren Black ’09  Deputy Administrator, Dallas County District Attorney’s Office

Lauren Black boasts a distinguished career spanning over a decade within the public sector. Currently holding the position of Deputy Administrator at the Dallas County District Attorney's office, Lauren oversees a wide variety of divisions, including the Appellate Division, Misdemeanor Division, Grand Jury/Intake, Restorative Justice and Mental Health, and the pioneering Vehicular Crimes Unit.

Lauren began her career in Rockwall County as an entry-level prosecutor where her diligent efforts saw her rise through the ranks. Her current leadership role at the Dallas County DA's office underscores her strategic approach and commitment to achieving substantive goals. Her emphasis on fostering a collaborative environment has contributed to the effectiveness of the organizations she has led.

Lauren’s proficiency in prosecuting Vehicular Crimes is widely recognized. Her achievements have garnered recognition, most notably the Mothers Against Drunk Driving award for her instrumental role in establishing the first Vehicular Crimes Unit in Dallas County.

A strong advocate for mentorship and professional development, Lauren has facilitated the growth of her colleagues and empowered them to excel. Her influence extends to legal education through her coaching of the UNT College of Law's mock trial teams, where she has successfully guided numerous teams to impressive outcomes. Lauren is passionate about mentoring the next generation of trial attorneys and serves as an Adjunct Professor for Baylor University School of Law.

When she is not in the courtroom, Lauren enjoys her work with the Texas District & County Attorneys Association, and volunteering on the boards of the Dallas Bar Association and the JL Turner Legal Association.

Lauren is married to businessman Tre’ Black and they have two beautiful and busy children.
